Call your doctor immediately if you develop hives, rash, or swelling, or if you have shortness of breath that does not meet your medicines. Advair Diskus has been known to cause allergic reactions and acute asthma or bronchial spasms.

A safety study found that one of the ingredients in Advair Diskus, salmeterol, may be associated with rare cases of serious asthma attacks or asthma-related death. Steroids taken by mouth or injection have been shown to slow or stop the growth of children and reduce the function of the adrenal glands. If enough drug is absorbed after inhalation, it is possible that Advair Diskus could also cause these effects. The doctor will prescribe the lowest dose possible to reduce the risk of an effect on growth or adrenal gland function.
